Fabulous Bridal Shower Shoot: Citrus Inspired

Food and floral arrangements = LOVE! The bright hues of citrus fruits and the cheery, summery vibes they invoke were the inspiration for this bridal shower shoot. Lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit and the oh-so-luscious blood oranges bring an organic festive feeling to the table. Simple yet flavorful refreshment ideas such as a spinach and grapefruit salad, avocado and mandarin mini kebabs. Plus…wait for it… an orange poppyseed cake with blood orange buttercream filling! Spring and lemonade, sunshine and raindrops, couldn’t better be symbolized than through these delicate blooms that brighten life in early spring. A splash of bright yellow daffodils, soft pink tulips, orange, coral and peach ranunculus, combined with the textural and fuzzy yellow acacia, light blush cherry blossoms, and rich pink camelia, and a touch of those ever-famous orange and white floating poppies and their tight pods, bring together all the feelings and emotions of spring! Nature would not be nature without some asymmetry and unexpected features at every turn, and so an asymmetrical design with long reaching branches symbolized the perfect imperfections found in nature. All of the details are intentional and cohesive as a whole while still creating that fun and festive atmosphere when the pre-wedding excitement is in the air.

Fabulously Inspired: Southwestern Gypsy Wedding Inspiration

Today’s Southwestern Gypsy board draws wedding inspiration from the southwestern states of our great nation us and would be perfect for a couple with a passion for travel and red red mountains. This style is vibrant and eclectic; a dramatic absorption of varied cultures and tribes experienced through the eyes of the laidback explorer. With a nod to the 1970s, a strong Bohemian vibe sets the tone for your event. Both relaxed and luxe at the same time. It’s a wonderful marriage of the unconventional and wild ethos of a nomadic traveler with the sophistication and class of the wealthy wanderer.

Natural materials like wood, sand, feathers, leather and (faux) fur will help to set the tone for this all-encompassing look where more really is more. Imagine displaying cacti mixed with an eclectic range of treasures collected from your wanderings across the globe, celebrating cultural icons and traditions.

This vibrant celebration pulls bright colors together in an unexpected palette of sage green, turquoise, and terracotta and a rich pops of color here and there.

Fabulously Designed: New Year’s Eve 2014 in Las Vegas

This year I had the honor and distinct pleasure of being asked to work as a freelance floral designer with Destinations By Design, a huge design house in Las Vegas. In addition to their staff, there were five of us who came in to freelance from locally in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and one designer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! A total of 11 designers in all.

We designed nearly 2,000 arrangements for 11 Las Vegas Strip Casinos. Worked 6 days straight at 13-14 hours per day. It was hard work and tough on the feet and hands but incredibly gratifying and lots of fun. It was quite the experience for me. I had never worked at such volume EVER! The most I have ever done is 275 arrangements for one client over the course of a couple of weeks. I gained so much from this experience and came back home exhausted but also fired up about implementing some fundamental operation changes within my own business model. I was privileged to setup at Planet Hollywood (165 tables) with my new friend, Jennifer French. And I popped into Paris Hotel (340 tables) and Caesar’s (280 tables) where the largest parties of the New Year were taking place to show you a little of what we worked tirelessly to achieve.

From behind-the-scenes all the way to setup on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas, the photos cannot begin to capture the actual in-person experience. Enjoy!
